About me Paul Augustus Walters.

“The main thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble, to live.” ~ Auguste Rodin

“Art must be an expression of love or it is nothing. If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing.” ~ Marc Chagall

“It is a matter of loving art, not understanding it.” ~ Fernand Leger

“Poetry and painting are done in the same way you make love; it’s an exchange of blood, a total embrace – without caution, without any thought of protecting yourself.” ~ Joan Miro

“People should fall in love with their eyes closed.” ~ Andy Warhol

My Artist Statement

“Painting, a journey, a road of discovery wherein the artist bares his soul to praise and sometimes ridicule. Close your eyes and let your instinct conduct the orchestra of creativity. Using the congregation of brushes, oil, paint and canvas to become companions on a mystery adventure."

I have used these examples of quotation because they explain in perfect tone what my work is about. Love, passion and struggle. It is notoriously difficult to quantify what Art and life mean when trying to write your own review. So easy to get bogged down in 'ArtSpeak.' Which no one really understands. I have been a Commercial Artist for most of my career, since leaving Art College in1984. Being a commercial artist allowed me to develop new skills in furniture design and three dimensional studies. Also the love and appreciation of Murals and exterior painting and signs. Please click this link to go to my facebook page where you can see up to date examples.

In 1996 I worked in a taxi in Swindon to pay for my Digital design future. It lasted three agonising years. After graduating with the degree I managed to secure a new contract with Pebley Beach Ltd. in Cirencester and Swindon. I stayed there for ten years running the marketing dept for Suzuki and Hyundai. Winning two Major Nationwide Marketing Awards.

In 2008 I went to Hong Kong for an extended stay with my sister. She had been living in the far east for nearly twenty years. I stayed for six weeks in Hong Kong and was invited to Lecture at the Kellett Schools for ex-pat children from 11-18 years of age. It was a revolutionary experience for me in as much as I learned so much about my own abilities and shortcomings. I produced nine major artworks over the next two years from my Studio in Swindon. Both oil paintings and three-dimensional work.

In 2009 -2011 I also Lectured at New College in Swindon. Teaching Life drawing, Master Drawing techniques and Marketing & Self Promotion.

The store has been a labour of love. Not only with the site content but also learning how to build an e-commerce shop.

When you look through my store you will see the graphic influence in the way the paint and markings are precise and measured. I work everything out first, with a detailed sketch and various coded workings. Wix has enabled me to link in to an Ebay.com shop to showcase and retail my work. I'm currently working on this now. More info later.
